Through an initiative made possible by the Cinema Brasil Program, Filme Rio-Rio Film Commission was at Ventana Sur 2011. The event took place in Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires, December 2nd through 5th, and was organized by the Argentina Cinema and Audiovisual Institute (INCAA). This is the third year the FRRFC participates in the event’s business market, which is done in partnership with the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché Du Film, and is a converging point for buyers and international sales agents interested in Latin American production. “For us, this year was even better than the previous one. We had a meetings marathon with a variety of Latin American and European producers, specially with two Spanish delegations, one from Seville and another one from Galicia”, celebrates the FRRFC president, Steve Solot.
The FRRFC had its own booth at the event, thus guaranteeing visibility for both the state and the city of Rio de Janeiro, as far as attracting international productions and being recognized as a destination with privileged settings for TV and film production from the world over.
“Ventana Sur offers the FRRFC an unique opportunity to show the beauties and qualities of the city and the state of Rio de Janeiro in two ways: both formally, through its booth and the meetings we take, and informally, through get-togethers at the lounge. This event is recognized for attracting a solid number of European producers, due to the partnership with the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché and with INCAA, with support from the international media”, praises Solot.
As part of Ventana Sur, there was a meeting of the Latin America Film Commission Network. At the time, the organizations signed an MoU establishing common goals.
