São Paulo production house Medialand has had support from Filme Rio-Rio Film Commission throughout the November shoot of reality show Os hermanos perdidos no Brasil, which airs in Latin American countries mid-2012. The show brings together an argentine, a paraguayan and an uruguayan with an uncommon mission: leaving the Triple Border (that links the south of Brazil with Paraguay and Argentina) and reaching Touro (in Rio Grande do Norte, on the northernmost tip of Brazil) aboard a VW bus from the Seventies.

Participants took part in several contests throughout the show and each played for a different Brazilian institutions – the Paraguayan, for Casa Vô Benedita; the Uruguayan, for Projeto Cre'r; the Argentine, for Instituto do Câncer Infantil do Agreste. “We reached Rio right at the time Rocinha was being occupied and we had to change our original plan, which would have brought us over to Pedra Bonita (next to Rocinha). The FRRFC helped us when we had to change the contest and also in the pre-production, when we needed permits and ideas for locations”, said producer Carlos Pirillo.

As the participants’ trip progresses, the tourism spots of 16 Brazilian cities are shown. “This is another great opportunity for Rio de Janeiro to be seen through the eyes of other Latin American countries as an interesting destination for audiovisual production. Besides, it will bring great commercial results for TV stations of the whole region”, celebrates FRRFC’s president, Steve Solot.
